SCARS_

Este proyecto centra su atención en las intervenciones humanas sobre el terreno, explorando las marcas y alteraciones que resultan de los procesos de transformación orientados al beneficio propio. Plantea una reflexión crítica sobre las huellas indelebles que estas acciones imprimen en el paisaje, entendidas no sólo como vestigios físicos, sino como manifestaciones de dinámicas de poder y explotación, desentrañando las tensiones entre progreso, impacto ambiental y memoria.

Scars propone una aproximación interdisciplinaria que articula tres ejes complementarios: analítico, a través de herramientas de programación en código abierto (Processing); documental, mediante el uso de la fotografía como registro y construcción de memoria visual; y perceptual, empleando el vídeo como medio para capturar la experiencia sensorial del espacio y el tiempo. Estas perspectivas convergen para explorar y resignificar los espacios transitados, ofreciendo una lectura multifacética que integra la lógica del dato, la narrativa visual y la percepción subjetiva, con el objetivo de desentrañar las capas de significado inherentes al territorio y su tránsito.

This project is concerned with the impact of human activities in the field, examining the effects of processes of transformation that are oriented towards personal gain and result in the creation of distinctive marks and alterations. It puts forward a critical examination of the indelible marks that these actions leave on the landscape, understood not only in physical terms but also as manifestations of power dynamics and exploitation, and as a means of unravelling the tensions between progress, environmental impact and memory.

Scars employs an interdisciplinary approach, articulating three complementary axes: analytical, through open-source programming tools (Processing); documentary, through the use of photography as a record and construction of visual memory; and perceptual, using video as a means to capture the sensory experience of space and time. These perspectives converge to explore and re-signify transited spaces, offering a multifaceted reading that integrates the logic of data, visual narrative and subjective perception. The aim is to unravel the layers of meaning inherent to the territory and its transit.

Representaciones del territorio. Mapas ficticios compuestos por fragmentos de mapas reales capturados desde Google Earth que son intervenidos vectorialmente o con código abierto.

El territorio ya no es lo que se ve, es lo que se habita. Se devuelve al paisaje su escala humana.

A través de las secuencias se cuestiona la percepción lineal del tiempo, contrastándola con la experiencia de un tiempo cíclico inherente a la naturaleza.

El diseño sonoro se construye como un continuo sin principio ni fin, desafiando las nociones convencionales de temporalidad. Se invita a experimentar un estado en el que el tiempo se disuelve.

The territory is no longer what you see, it is what you inhabit. The landscape is given back its human scale.
Through the sequences, the linear perception of time is questioned, contrasting it with the experience of a cyclical time inherent to nature.
The sound design is constructed as a continuum without beginning or end, challenging conventional notions of temporality. This encourages the viewer to experience a state in which time dissolves.
